Meet Magento Poland 2026
Magento is the new COBOL of e-commerce
Over the top? A little. True? More and more so. Magento no longer needs to be the place where we develop all our business logic. It should be a stable, predictable transactional engine: product catalog, shopping cart, checkout, orders. Just as COBOL has been powering critical banking systems for decades, Magento can simply handle sales reliably. Innovation happens on the side. Pricing, promotions, integrations, workflows, and marketplaces can be handled by small microservices generated and developed by AI agents. This allows us to implement changes in a matter of hours rather than sprints, without touching the platform’s core. We’ll examine an architecture in which Magento serves as a transactional engine, while business logic migrates to an ecosystem of microservices developed by AI agents. I’ll showcase practical examples of features that we’re currently building as Magento modules but that could function tomorrow as independent services communicating via APIs and events. Together, we’ll consider whether the biggest change in Magento might be that we’ll stop developing Magento itself.
